Introducing Blimp, a photo editor for Boblycats

Time to introduce Blimp, my very own layered photo editor. Blimp is my hobby programming project which I use for basic editing of my own digital photos. It has now gotten to the point where I think it may be useful for other people as well.

But I need beta testers. And what better place to get that than a community of photo- and computer geeks? :)

Read more about Blimp here: http://projects.boblycat.org/blimp

Then please download it from here: http://projects.boblycat.org/blimp/wiki/DownloadBlimp

And then pretty please test it out and give me some feedback! Keep in mind that this is an early beta version, so expect it to be a bit rough around the edges.

Finally, a screen shot of Blimp running on Windows:

And on Ubuntu Linux:

Hi Knut,

as an ubuntu user this is great news. I couldnt give gimp a real chance, since it differs from how i am used to do things in photoshop. I was looking for something that allowed exactly what blimp seems to offer. photo editing on an essential level without having to learn a totally new software from scratch (and thats what it feels like when i use gimp).

I tried different software with the purpose of finding something that fits my needs. But picasa, f-spot, gthumb, even lightzone (though pretty good, but slow) all havn't been what i was looking for. And using windows in a VM just for the purpose of doing some basic editing in P-Shop is a bit overkill.

Blimp steps into this gap. I just installed it and will be testing/using it.

Thank for creating it and greetings from Berlin,
René

Cool, let me know how it works out. And feel free to suggest improvements and new features. :)
